Welcome to Rage Against the Meta, a blog that is dedicated to the experiences of different tabletop war games. The main focus of the articles will be aimed at improving your overall experience in all aspects of the hobby. Content will be deleivered on a daily basis, with different specialized weekly content sprinkled in. Painting is another aspect we will cover, work in progress articles where we can talk about specific techniques applied in real world applications.

My name is Derek, and I have been playing tabletop games for over twenty years. I took a small hiatus part of the way through 6th,and all of 7th. 2012 was when I took that break and changed my life completely, up until that point I had a pretty good understanding of the game. I got back in when 8th came out, but didn’t have as much time or anywhere to really play, I managed to find a few gts along the way. It was February 2020,and I had just finished another event with an okay placing, I finally committed to running blood angels competatively, and then covid happened.
My covid era was so strange, my wife had taken another job down here in Alabama, right around April so we had to scramble to sell a house, buy a house and plan our wedding. Needless to say I didn’t get to play a lot of 40k, however I was able to build and paint t a ton of models. It was a new feeling that was coming over me, I enjoy the hobby side way more than the competative side. Fast-forward to August or September, and I finally get to play a 9th edition tournament, I went and didn’t do so well but the games felt closer and a lot more going on than old school systems. So this caused me to shift back to dark eldar and focus on them for the better part of 9th edition. I have a few top 3s,and only one win in this edition at the rtt level. It has just made me want to learn more, and a great way to learn is to teach.

Over the past couple of months I have been doing a lot of self improvement , in every aspect of my life. The biggest change that I have been implementing is staying organized, and that led me to writing everything down and filing it away in some form of a physical or digital format. So naturally the ideas that have been running around in my head for years, I have taken the time to write them out so that I can park them, and dive back into them with some new fresh thoughts. I have dedicated the better part of my evenings to building my back log of miniatures and painting up armies that I want to play with, mostly over different systems. That’s when I realized I was pretty much blogging just like I used to do back in the day, I just wasn’t organizing it and publishing it.
Suddenly with this thought, I was happy and ready to finally dive into this crazy world that I have only been dreaming of. With everything being built upon organization, we will be able to stay up to date on everything, while also not stressing over anything. This is done as a by product of my efforts in the hobby and game, so anything that comes of it is already on top of the joy I find when I’m doing something with wargaming.
So sometimes it might just be a few days of work in progress pictures, or a random thought about something random. The goal is simple, make content that we would read and stay as consistent as possible, without getting stressed or burnt out. I’m here to do what I can to improve my game and my painting skills, but more importantly I want to leave a positive impact on this great hobby we all share and love.

That was alot of words, and some cute pictures, I don’t aim to be super serious, so I don’t expect anyone else to be. At the end of the day, all this is to me is just publicly documenting my hobby experiences, in hopes of people enjoying it, or better yet learning from it. Please leave comments or whatever, I want to grow and I want to make great content.
